They demanded $1200 payment in advance to inspect caboose and claimed they would send me the report quickly. After 2 months I still don't have the report. They made excuses that husband was in hospital and mother died. Then they wanted $32K in advance to ship caboose. Due to thier poor preformance I don't recomend doing business with them unless you protect yourself somehow, perhaps get advice from a lawyer. If you pay them in advance they have no incentive to complete the job. So the caboose will go to the scrap dealer and I'll get about $5000 for it and a few souvenier window frames and light fixtures. I contacted David Thebodo and told him I wanted to buy it. In February 2011 he directed me to travel from the west coast to Michigan to see it. When I got there Feb 5, it turned out to be a different caboose, CN 79531. I decided to buy it anyway and he received my payment Feb 8. He waited one month before printing the bill of sale and sending it to me. It took another month before I got the piece of paper. RMI told me for three months he would put me in contact with people that I could hire to load the caboose for shipment but he never provided any help. The caboose has been stored on the Adrian and Blissfield RR in Michigan since 2005. The railroad will not release the caboose to me until the "car storage" fees are paid ($50/month + 18% interest). Rail Merchants should have paid the fees or told me about this expense. Legal advisors tell me this is fraud. As of August 2011 the caboose has not moved. I would not reccomend dealing with railmerchants unless you work through a lawyer to protect yourself, don't just believe what he says. He is not honest.
