Yep, I Did It!

7241514Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to let you all know that I finished my novel on Friday!

Yahoo!

It finished up at 330 pages. Yes, I’ve been writing as if my fingers are on fire.

I still can’t believe it.

Finishing a novel has been on my Dreams List for such a long time, and the feeling of finally finishing that race is incredible. I really just can’t put it into words.

It’s a strange mixture: on the one hand I’m euphoric that I finally had the strength and ability to finish a novel that I actually think might be good. On the other hand, there’s a strange sense of loss. I’ve created this whole world, and all these characters, and saying goodbye is something I’m not quite ready for yet…

The story is finished, and yet it isn’t. Which is why I started work on the sequel this weekend.

Anyway, I’ve got some major editing work to do before I try to find an agent to represent the book, and that’s surely going to take a few months, so I’ll keep you updated on how it’s going!

The second piece of good news here is that I’ll be back posting just as I always have starting this week!  Thanks for sticking in there while I’ve been away following this dream!

Green Bean,

Thanks so much! I truly am. I don’t think I’ve ever been so proud to do something as I’ve been about this. Definitely worth the effort!

Fantastic! What a huge accomplishment. May your book find its way into the right publisher’s hands. ~ sjp

Hey Congratulations!! What an accomplishment!
I found the editing actually takes me almost as long as the writing, because I keep coming across new ideas or better ways to say something. (And I’m kind of anal.) While that might sound daunting, I think it’s great cuz it means you don’t have to say goodbye just yet to those characters you love.
Best of luck to you!

Jade,

Thanks so much for your well wishes!

I’m in the throes of editing right now, and I’ve started writing the sequel since the story just wasn’t over yet. Like you, I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye! 🙂

Heather…

Congrats on your thriller…

Who’da thought you could get 330 pages out of hanging Lavendar upside down in a basement?

In the sequel, does she come back, and stuff you in a barrel of olive oil, so that aliens can use you for “Blue Moon Moisturizer?” 🙂

Nice job… now get back to work! 😛
