Ok, I don’t know about all of you but I’m worn out with hearing about greedy companies, layoffs, and cutbacks. I’m ready to hear about companies with heart, and when I heard this wonderful story about Trilogy Jewelry, I wanted to share it with all of you because it just made me happy.
Here’s the set-up…
If you’ve spent any time on this blog you’ve probably come across plenty of comments from some guy named Renaissance Ronin. He’s a feisty old curmudgeon, but he happens to be a great friend of mine, and an expert shipping container home builder.
Well, Ronin, and his family, has been through the mill the past few years. He lost his home to Katrina, and now his wife is battling cervical cancer. Through all this he’s managed to keep his oddball sense of humor, and keep giving back to his community, and the world, through his blog. It’s amazing.
Here’s the good story…
Over the holidays, Ronin bought his wife a little necklace from Trilogy Jewelry.
The first time it got delivered the package was stolen out of his mailbox. So, Ronin calls the company to see if they would even consider sending him another one.
Most companies that are not Amazon would have said no. But Trilogy, which is just a tiny, tiny casting shop in Florida, agrees to send him another necklace to replace the stolen one.
Ronin’s neighborhood is not the greatest. In fact, it’s awful. The second necklace gets stolen out of his mailbox.
So, Ronin calls the company again. He tells them that in no way is he going to ask for another necklace; they’ve already gone above and beyond what most companies would have done. He called just to let them know how much it meant to him that they sent another necklace in the first place, and to see if he could write a testimonial for their site so other buyers would know how generous they are.
Well, the artist at Trilogy gets on Ronin’s blog and starts reading. And reading. And reading. Once they find out how tough things have been, both financially and emotionally, for Ronin and his family, they take action. And this is what they do:
They make another necklace for Ronin’s wife. They also make an identical one for their son, who’s 2, and the same pendent on a keychain for Ronin himself. Their idea is now all three of them can be linked with this one symbol.
They send all three items Express Priority Mail, which can’t be delivered unless Ronin himself is there and signs for it. The package arrived just today.
Trilogy did all this just from the goodness of their heart, without any expectations or strings attached, just because they wanted to bring a smile to someone’s face.
Last Word…
I wanted to share all this with you because I don’t think we hear enough about businesses, big or small, that go above and beyond for people. Trilogy Jewelry only has a small store, but they’ve shown kindness and heart that we don’t see often these days.
Do any of you have a story like this, of a business who went above and beyond for you? If so, I’d love to hear it!
Post Publication Update…
Once Trilogy found out about this post, they very kindly sent me two necklaces to say “thank you”! I wanted to post them here so you could see the quality of this shop.
Trilogy, thank you so much for sending these! They are wonderful. 🙂

I am NOT a “curmudgeon.” I’m a “codger.” I looked it up on Wikipedia, and there I was, right in the definition. (I wonder how they got THAT photo?) 🙂
Apparently, I’m also a few other things, but they aren’t repeatable, here. 😉
These Trilogy Jewelry guys… Well, they’re GREAT! It’s a family business that actually has a heart that beats…
I told you their stuff was gonna make you happy! The quality is really way up there on the scale. Combined with the low prices, it’s just goodness on a grand scale!
Around here, we’re big fans. Thanks for helping us tell the world!
Ronin
My pleasure…thank you and enjoy!
Suzanne
I find it very sad, but not surprising, that no one has posted a comment on a business that has done any deeds as good as Trilogy Jewelry.
I checked out their website and ordered a necklace, if I could have afforded it I would have bought more. It was hard to decide which of the beautiful designs to order.
Jean, thanks so much! I know, these are the stories that just make me so happy. This casting shop is just a micro-business, but they’re doing business with an open heart. Thanks so much for supporting them!
You know, it’s a sad commentary on society when all we talk about is the BAD things.
In fact, it’s WHY I wanted to say something. And who better to say it to than Heather? I knew if I did, she’d check it out and let you know! She’s the “Queen of Cool…”
If we focused on “cool”, and not “cuckoo”… maybe things would get better…
At least we’d be happier, huh?
Jean, thanks for supporting Trilogy Jewelers. It’s clear from their actions that they’re doing all they can… to support US.
Ronin
Thank you so much for your order! It’s so nice when we’re reminded that this vast and intangible internet is really just made up of people…my heart is warmed!
Best to all,
Suzanne
