If you live anywhere close to Northern Michigan you’ll be interested to learn that throughout the entire month of April there’s a series of celebrations and events that focus on green and sustainable living. I’m super excited about this because some of the classes and workshops that are being offered are just plain cool.
Here’s the skinny: Earth Week Plus is actually a month long event taking place around Northern Michigan. A group of environmentalists got together and decided they wanted to create a huge event, full of workshops, classes and celebrations that all focus on farming, renewable energy and sustainable living.
What kind of events, classes and workshops are going to be going on during Earth Week Plus? Take a look:
- Owl banding and Stargazing
- How to Make Maple Syrup
- Tour a Solar Open House
- Basics of Beekeeping
- Planning a Zero Energy Home
- Timber Wolves of Michigan
- Wildlife Rehabilitation-An Overview
- Growing Healthy Food
- Living in a Solar Home-Open panel discussion with solar home owners
- Earth Day Cleanups (around Northern Michigan)
- And much more!
If I didn’t live so far away you can bet your bunny I’d be attending some of these classes (especially beekeeping and how to make maple syrup!).
But if you do live somewhat close to the tip of Michigan’s mitt, then don’t miss out on this amazing celebration, again, which is taking place at various locations throughout the entire month of April. And the best news? All events are free and open to the public.
You can find out locations, as well as a schedule of events, at EarthWeekPlus.com.
